What's up everyone? I just thought I'd share my outdoor grow with ya! This is a 100% legal medical grow under prop 215. I started this grow from scratch. Just an empty hillside. The property owner had NID water installed to start with so we woudn't have water problems, as her well could barely keep up with watering the lawn. We had the trenches dug professionally, and installed hardware cloth in the trenches to keep those pesky little gophers out. Then 260 yrds. of top grade garden blend, organic potting soil was added. Then I brought in 60 big bags of perlite. We added organic ammendments bone meal, rock phosphate, bat guano (phosphorous and nitrogen type), alf alfa meal, bud and bloom booster from dr. earth, and greensand. I stired all this in with a tiller. We have 46 plants total, 18 are mine, the rest the property owners. I am doing the grow myself , as she doesn't know how, so basicalloy I get a nice place to grow , and she gets a good job done on hers. (hopefully). Here's the strain list, there are several of some, and only one each of some of the others. I have J-Train(which is Jack H x Trainwreck), Goo, Super Silver Haze, White Rhino, Romulan, Dragon, Chocolope, Jack H x N.L., Martian Mean Green, Blue Dream, O.G.Kush, Tora Bora, Hash Plant, Honey Bee, himalayan Gold, and TropiCanna. There are 36 plants in the trenches, and 10 plants in 60" kiddie pools. I have the tea brewer set up, ready to go. This grow will be 100% True Living Organics, absolutely no synthetic ferts will be used...period! I'm sorry only 3 pics for now, they were all too big to upload here. I figured out how to take smaller pics, but not how to resize the ones I have, so I will take some more tomorrow. Oh yea, they were planted 3 wks. ago yesterday, some were vegging a month prior, some 2 wks. Happy growing!788787786

GREAT JOB I'm strapped in and ready to take off watching these babies grow, grow, grow.
I live on the East Coast (RI MMJ) and we are not allowed outside unless it's in a building. looking forward to a super job I am impressed I would do much of the same. GOOD LUCK!

This is pretty much exactly what I want to do, and even a handful of the strains you picked are the ones I would dream of sowing. I'm equally as geeked about the fact that its 100% OUTDOOR TLO..... that's literally everything I want plan to do in once I have all the resources... just goddamn sexy. I look forward to keeping up with this. Good luck my friend, may the elements be by your side. P&P

Antway, I guess the heat just finally got it. It had water, so that wasn't it. Good thing I have some 2-3 ft replacements1000 ready1001 to go, so it will not be a a total loss. I didn't mess around about replaceing that dead Rhino. This time of year it's not going to have much chance to get going before it starts flowering. So, I put a Dutch Dragon that I had at the house that's about 4 ft. tall, and it will flower longer , and grow more while flowering ( BEING A SATIVA), and hopefully still yield half way descent. I have 1 of these here already that's doing good so this one should too.10091010

Just wanted to let you guys know, it's still coming along. I'll get some fresh pics soon, but since my 4x4 starter broke, and I only have the atv to get to the garden, and I've been carrying other supplies down and havn't had the room for my camera case, and haven't had the time to mess with it. The branches on the bigger ones are getting so long and heavy, they're breaking under the weight already, which they don't usually start doing until 3-4 weeks into flower when they start putting the real weight on. So I've been working on tying up the limbs that are breaking, and am starting the cages tomorrow. I will get some fresh pics soon.

no it's called way too big!! Cannabis plants this size get heavy, and frames just are not going to hold all that weight. You always have to build support cages around plants this big, but they usually aren't so heavy until later. I have personally never had plants this thich and branchy, there are thousands of bud sights on these babies. There has been 0 chemicals applied to this grow. No synthetic nutrients, no pesticides or fungicides. To control pests on this, you have to be clean from the start, and you usually will not have too many problems. There are no mites, and no mildew so far it's spotless!

I broke down, and did it. I bought me trim reaper so I don't have to spend weeks trying to hand trim...I HATE IT! This is the one a friend of mine bought last year, and I liked the results. You still have to touch it up a little, and lanky loose sativas don't do great in it. But it's worth it's weight in gold for sure. I went to the biggest grow shop in this area, where I get the stuff I can't get at my nursery, like Iguano juice, and rockwool, stuff like that. When I walked in, they were talking about these trimmers. They were saying they were having a hard time getting them, and that their supplier told them they were getting snatched at customs!?!? I immediatly started the search, and turned up 4 of em' at one shop that had been there for 6 months they said. They were1379 getting ready to order more as I bought 2 of them, 1 for me and 1 for my partner. I guess we'll see if they get them in or not.13781380 They have a suggested retail of $2200.00. I got 2 for $3600.00 out the door.

On a humerous side note. I arrived at the garden today, to find that big ass buck that's been hanging around, inside my deer fence, just walking around like he owned the place. I guess he jumped the fence cause it wasn't down anywhere, but there was one spot that was pushed down a little, like he hit it on his way over. When I went in thru the gate, I was going to try to herd him around and out the gate , but he freaked out and ran right thru the fence, got his massive rack all tangled up in it, and tore a big chunk loose and ran off with it. He got it off his head and all, cause I found it just down the hill. I had to fix the fence and it's 102 degrees down there today......I wasn't happy, but afterwards it was kinda funny, watching him get all tangled up and freaking out like he did. I hope he learned his lesson.

They will ot eat the flowers. I have had them nip at em' during veg but never while flowering. He just sees this green oasis and thinks "chow time", but then finds out it's not on his menu. I think he wound up eating some weds that were growing in the beds. There was one place it looked like he was standing in for awhile. I won't shoot him cause I don't eat bucks, and I don't believe in taking them unless your gonna eat em'. That's why I don't hunt out here in Cali....there's no doe season! Back home we could wear them little bitches out. I like the little young does......yea, I'd eat Bambi..young, tender, juicy, little Bambi!

This isn't part of this grow, but I don't have a thread on my little outdoor at my house. It's too small, not enough sun,and so forth. Anyway, I went out here this morning, to find mytruck toolbox that sits out there with supplies in it, turned over, my bat guano bag opened, my 5 gallon bucket of fish emulsion dumped over, and my 5 gallon bucket of molasses dumped over with fang holes in the bottom of it. Ain't no dog or coyote or anything like that gonna bite a hole in the bottom of a bucket like that. We've been having trouble with this bear on occasion mostly 1393with the trash, but he goes on the neighbors deck and dumps the bird feeders. He loves bird seed! At least he was careful and didn't break any branches or anything....he just chowed down on my molasses and some fish emulsion and left. I thought about putting one of those motion detector sprinklers that are supposed to scare wildlife away, but I could see him freaking out and running over all my plants trying to get away from it, so I guess I'll just have to sto1392re the stinky stuff somewhere else from now on.138813901391

wheezer

Might as well have fun with it....not much I can do about it. My dog.....ha...she was in bed with me while the bear was having his party, but she was right there when we had the deer encounter, and she went after him.....like she's gonna do something. She's great for keeping rats and mice out of the garden, and she catches moles, gophers, voles, rats, rabbits, and ducks are all on the list of things she has happily brought to me. I'm kinda hoping she never brings me a bear!

DAAAAAAMN!! It's dropped 25 degrees in 2 days up here and today the wind is blowing 40 mph out there. Growers nightmare! I spent 3 hours out there today caging the bigger plants up. I got down there and my helper was working on 1 that blew over and was twisted and broke everywhwere. Got it back up strait and fixed all the broken limbs and tied it to the cage he built around it, and it's all good. I have some grafting compound that you can literally glue limbs back on that were ripped completely off as long as you do it right away. We caged about 10 plants and already had about 15 done, so we got most of the big ones. He's finishing the last few up. Man I tell you what.....growing ain't a gimme, it's alot of hard work and know how, to pull off a good grow. I'm waiting for the worms to show up next! I'm hoping I don't have too much trouble with them. I'm going to give them a good shot of pyrethrin in abgout another week or two, and hopefully take em' out before they get bad. I'll mix some oil spray of somekind in too, to smother any eggs. If that don't do it, it's hand picking from there as I will not spray my flowers with ANYTHING after 30 days of flowering, I don't care who says you can spray until harvest. Most of that stuff will not hurt you, but it will effect taste, so I don't do it! I'll post some new pics later next week. PEACE!

DuctTapeTheory
08-29-2010, 02:09 PM
I've been reading that Spinosad is good for spraying up to preflower to early flower. It's supposed to kill early worms. I also found this interesting recipe online:

there is a mixture you can make up that is easy. put the ingredients in a one gallon container then fill it with water.
1 tablespoon cayan pepper (must be cayan)
1 cup vinegar
put that mixture in a spray bottle and spray over the exterior of the plants (only a mist if they are budding). do that and it will repel the moths and irritate and kill the worms.

As for the wind and deer and other elements, may mother nature bless your garden with more healthy flowers than damaged ones. That's about the only thing I can think to say. Work hard, but at some point it is out of your hands!

Well, my nightmare's coming true. The little bud munchers have shown up. Of course they hit the Super Silver Haze that was the farthest into flower. That's ok, I knew I would have some issues. I don't like to spray if they have less than a month, 2 weeks good enough, and it will not hurt to let it go an extra week if I have to, so I'm gonna go ahead and spray for them. Most of the crop is only about 3 weeks in(a little late for some reason) so they're not gonna be an issue to spray. I'll hit em' now, and it should take care of the worst of it. I'm sure we'll be handpicking, but that's to be expected. Sorry I didn't have the camera down there today, cause I had too much stuff to carry down on the ATV. I wiil get some pics of em'. Peace!

I'm closer to Sac than the other places you listed. A little north. Thanks for all the good words....I havn't been doing this forever, but I learn quick, and have always had a green thumb. I'll probably always grow outside, cause I don't think it can be any better IF, everything goes right. Alot is out of your control, which can be very frustrating. I'm gonna move most of my work indoors this year, the weather is just getting too unpredictable to have all your eggs in THAT basket!

They're saying we might get some rain this weekend. boooooooooooooooo!! I went and bought 6 10' x 20' carports today to set up over the rows and hang tarps in between. I'll be able to cover most of the garden, and will be able to cover all the ones that are fat and heavy already. I lost about 35% of the bud off about 10 plants last year from a light rain about this time, to bud rot. The really dense, hard buds trap water very easily, and the rot just takes over from the inside. You don't even know it's there usually until you start harvesting it. It's sad when go trimming a beautiful bud, only to find out that the whole inside of it is rotten. NOT this year!

16691668Well, here it is , or at least part of it. We STARTED OUT WITH 6 of these carports and got them up over the most needed plants to be covered. We decided to search all thelocal K-Mart stores in the area for more of them, and foudb 5 more at the same store, just delivered. So we ended up with 11 of the 10' x 20' carports, which still didn't cover everything, but all of them that really needed to be covered like the Super Silver Haze that is too fat and too hard to not trap moisture. We found 3 ,
more at the K- Mart in the next town, and are getting them for later. As we set these up, we realized this should have been done from the sart. Duuuh! These carports are 3" metal posts, and a little concrete would hold them nicely. It would give us extra tying up abilities, and the ability to cover quickly if needed. So there going to be a permenent fixture,(for as long as they last) and for 99 bucks, what the hell?
By the way, we got a wopping .25 of an inch of rain there today, so as you can see it was all worth it(SARCASM WITH TIRED LOOK IN EYE) but i'll be ready for an early October rainfest.

Yea, Ive had the worms in there for sure, but they seem to be only doing minimal damage so far, and alot of it is getting cut very soon. They seem to attack a couple plants worse than others, and I have a couple plants that got some pretty good damage on them. I'm sure I'll find alot more as we're harvesting, you just have to cut out the bad spots. Next year I'm gonna nuke the oak trees around the outside of the garden during veg time, and use some BT up to week 2 of flowering, and that should help alot. I learn something off of every grow. The small grow at my house took a beating in the rain the other day. They don't get enough light, so they stretch and get real top heavy, so alot of main branches broke competely off, it was heartbreaking, but I knew up here wasn't a good spot to grow, that's why I just had a small one up here.

.Well, I had some nice close -up shots of the buds to put up, but I guess I had my cam set wrong, and files are too large to put up here. If you want to see them you can go to rollitup.org. and look in the outdoor grow threads for "the big 40" and there are tons of pics there. I don't feel like, nor have time this time of year to screw with the small junk.....too much work to do. We have had 2-3 people trimming a day (6-8 hrs) and using the trim reaper we have trimmed alot of bud already. But honestly, the one crew working on one particular patients stuff, has trimmed on 1 Goo plant for 3 days...I think it's close to 4 lbs. And that was just the first one! There are 5 more just like it, and they're not the biggest plants in the garden by far. I'm tired and have so many other things going too, it's just been exhausting. I know I have been short with my comments latetly, and havn't been my usual self, I have alot on my shoulders. The property owner where this grow is has been with her ex-husband all summer as he was going thru bone marrow transplant and he just passed away 2 days ago, so she is a mess and of course I'm having to oversee the whole operation with just a little help. While all this is going on we're beginning a custody battle for my wifes 13 year old son Sheeeeesh!! And don't forget I have my small grow at my house to deal with , along with bringing up the skunky, kushy grow, and the Subcoool genetics that are only weeks old and need daily attention, plus raising the clones from all my genetics that I don't have in seed form that I have to keep alive and going. I could go on and on but I guess I better go get to work, I have some fresh rooted romulan clones and few otheres that desperately need to get in some dirt, but have been putting off for a week now. Off I GO!!!

17871786178517841783These will probably be the last live pics of the garden. About half or so is down now(a litlle less), and was trimmed wet with the reaper trimmer. We are to the point now, that the majority of what is left is ripe, so we have to go ahead and pull it, hang it, and let iit dry enough to start the good ol' hand trimming. Honesty, I can't wait. Everyone will work faster getting the piece rates instead of being paid by the hour, and they can work as long or short as they want. It will give me a few much needed days off as well. Thanks guys. I will get some pics of the portable carport drying room we're putting up today. It will get filled with Romulan. That's what those pics were of....the Romulan. It will be pretty easy trimming from here on out. The Romulan has no issues, the worms didn't get to them bad and no bud rot at all. We threw half of the Super Silver Haze in the trash. The big super hard and dense nugs just wouldn't let go of the moisture, and they rotted bad. All in all we didn't lose much outside of that. We still have alot of the Jack Trainwreck cross ( J-Train) AND 3 OR 4 Goo plants left to trim, and a couple odd plants not counting the sativas that will be a while yet, but we have 6 Romulans that are going to pull at least 4 lbs each. So we still have ALOT to trim. Not to mention the garden at my house! I'm really starting to get tired from working 7 days a week all day, the crews geta day off whenever they want but me.....no breaks for me. I'm overseeing this whole operation alone basically so it's really taking a toll on my old ass. I have never grown anything this size before because I've only grown for myself and my wife in the past so I have only delt with 12 big plants like this in the past. I had 46 total at this garden alone and they were all muti pound plants so it's way more than I've ever delt with. All the people involved(the patients) are rookies at this, that's why I say I'm overseeing it alone, I don't have any experienced owners but I do have some help that is now. I'm hoping that the hand trimming will easier on me (I'm sure it will be). I will have more quality control and will not have to go back over anything anymore, because I can look at each persons work at the end of the day when they weigh out, and give it back to them to touch up if it's not right. With the reaper ,everyones stuff is put together and it has to be touched up afterward. I'll put up some more pics as we go thru the rest of it.
PEACE.

He has worked with Ed Lepp and many other well know places like Hightimes etc. This year we grew 30 and it was 3 of us working on it with my 2 roomates working full time as I work at the cannabis collective 50 hours a week =(. With all these great photo's and mental notes it would be nice to maybe think about a book in the future or something. Either way if you feel like vending some even if it is trim send me a message.

Is your buddy responsible for those amazing Cali Starr posters that were available at the very 1st THC Expose? If so, tell him said thanks!

Sampson do you run the collective? If so that's totally bad ass.

How are things with your neighbors?

Wheezer- How much did you get per plant? 4-6 lbs?

I don't run the collective but I am in the mix . I am at heart the security but usually I end up budtending for 75% of the patients do to my knowledge I have learned over the last 6 years from growing indoor. I have been trolling the forums for years on numerous sites trying to gather as much information as I grew. Since I landed this job around 7 months ago I have been trying to move more towards the knowledge of strains and phenotypes to better help the patients that do not have the time to research this stuff. The pay is not the best but I love what I do and it keeps me busy all day while also opening another door to the MMJ industry.

My neighbors are out of the mix because the D.A. found that we are growing legally now. We fixed the issues that they addressed and so there is no worries about the neighbors. No hard feelings in the end because in the long run having the sheriffs come out actually gives us the upper hand if anything goes wrong. Either way I am pretty sure my neighbors were not trying to be douchebags they were just looking out for there kids...which is the right thing to do in there situation.

Atleast you're getting paid to do what you love.

I'm a bill-collector, bro.

That's got to be a tough gig to land. Who doesn't want to work at a dispensary?

No one really got caught up just a call that had to be answered. I just returned home from up north and it was just a plant count and a small threat like Sampson said above they warned him where the issues were and Wheezer took care of everything. Trust me that's what went down Wheezer is going to be just fine.

Hey everybody! I'm not in trouble! I had my wifes ex-husband call the fuzz on me for growing. They came to the house to answer the call, because they have to. The guys thhat were here were totally cool the whole time they were here, until they counted my plants. They counted over a hundred, but 60 were babies under 1 script with the 75 sq. ft. rule we have in our countie. They said I was legal under state law, but not federal, which I knew, and they told me that they have to report me to to DEA and IRS I believe they were just trying to scare me,(it worked) and get me to throw away my plants(that didn't work). I did get a little nervous about the possibility of what could happen, and took my PC and all the processed weed out of the house for a week to see what happens, and NOTHING! So I'm back now, still very busy trying to trim all of my stuff. We are making good progress, and getting a really good yield on everything. The Goo, Jack, and Romulan, all pulled 3-5 lbs each. The small plants in the shady garden at my house had all my crosses, and they turned out as potent if not more than anything else I grew this year. My LA Con x MK Ultra cross is off the hook. Every pheno was dank as hell! The LA x Sour D cross was amazing as well. All the plants at my house are just covered in crystal....I think there is something to be said for filtered light, especially on some strains. I will be doing some testing on this in the near future, as it was amazing how some of those plants came out (potentcy wise). I appreciate all you worrying for me, and I have had a hell of a time lately with all this, but, YOU CAN'T KEEP A GOOD MAN DOWN!!

Given that the local police probably can't stand the Feds, I'd say they were bluffing. But you're on everyone's radar now, so be careful.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Perhaps I am naive in this, but it's pretty cool that the cops came and left with nothing, honoring the law. This is huge in my book. It's a hassle...and the tax deal will be complicated, but not too many years ago you'd have been busted.

Keep up the good work and fight for legitimacy. And thanks for making the effort and for sharing it here!

Ya it seems to me that the local law enforcement agencies in California do not want to hurt or punish us. Really for someone out of state to see this and watch how the cops are actually friendlier with us then with people who do not grow. Still sucks going through it because the rush that comes over you as you see multiple agencies scour your garden. Wonder how the different agencies would have handled this if 19 was in effect?

Yea, it's a Rommy, but the Jacks and the Goo filled the truck up too. I had to make alot of trips up and down the hill.
The trim off my plants is going to a friend of mine that is going to make Hash and Butter from it. He;s giving me a 1972 Honda custom chopper for 10 lbs of it. I'll kief the rest and make butter from some, but I like to smoke the kief as is. I warm it up slightly, and then squeeze it into balls the size of a baseball and store it like that and it keeps forever.
I've been trying to put some pics up of the dried buds but I'm having trouble getting the close-up shots small enough to upload....I'm working on it. I have some beauties for sure.
PEACE!!
